Indeed. Maybe Lua was the author's intial option and then he ended up doing from Lua what it could have been easily done from Rainmeter too. Or maybe it was just more comfortable for him to use Lua.The original code already uses magic quotes irc. However it uses lua and maybe something there could cause the problem. However for how the skin works, lua is not necessary at all. All it does is to write the input to a .txt file using writekeyvalue bangs and refreshing it (and substituting).
