Not sure it's of any help to your situation, but I did a similar thing with some of my skins, one of which is MediaLauncher. That may help you?
Though I used separate buttons that were duplicated in each skin, there's no reason you couldn't make it a single button with a variation required to open the other.![:-)]( "Grinning")
