It is a good practice to enclose the values in bangs with quotation marks. While *sometimes* it is *not required*, in other times it is indeed required. I always enclose the values in bangs with quotation marks and recommend doing the same. The reason is that the values can have spaces and commas which would confuse the bang operations.
